I recently went on a work/vacation trip during which I decided to write a daily blog in keeping friends and family "posted" about the happenings. So this blog really documents everything that my family and I get up to while relaxing in new environments, and briefly mentions some of the work-related elements as well. Now, blogging is nearly as old as a primary school child, so it needs no new introduction.
This whole process got me thinking again though. Firstly, we are discovering new places, people and experiences every day, and in all I am reminded of the goodness of God. I have come to realize again that God is indeed universal, and wherever a packed suitcase may take us, there God goes with as well. David puts it far better in Psalm 139: God, investigate my life; get all the facts firsthand. Im an open book to you; even from a distance, you know what Im thinking. You know when I leave and when I get back; Im never out of your sight. You know everything Im going to say before I start the first sentence. I look behind me and youre there, then up ahead and youre there, too - your reassuring presence, coming and going. This is too much, too wonderful - I cant take it all in! Is there any place I can go to avoid your Spirit? To be out of your sight? If I climb to the sky, youre there! If I go underground, youre there! If I flew on mornings wings to the far western horizon, Youd find me in a minute - youre already there waiting! Then I said to myself, "Oh, he even sees me in the dark! At night Im immersed in the light!" Its a fact: darkness isnt dark to you; night and day, darkness and light, theyre all the same to you (The Message).
Secondly, I have met some amazing people and have been overwhelmed at the creativity of God. I have realized that all people are people! By this I mean that as a human I am no different from another – often we think that a different race or culture is a different species! The greatest discovery (perhaps it is more of a reminder) is that God cares for all the people on earth, no matter where they are. While it may take me nearly a day to travel to a new place on earth, God is already there. Global travel may take time for me, but the globe is in the palm of Gods hand!
The blog I write in a sense becomes the documentation of Gods hand in the life of my family and I. And we are overwhelmed… by an indescribable love and an immeasurable grace. We are also confronted by Gods sense of humour and Him taking delight in our smallest pleasure. So the blog becomes a testimony to and of God in a sense. Who ever thought a blog could serve as a reminder of God? Initially I didnt, but now some weeks into our journey, I have come to see that the greatest experience of life is simply to encounter God, even in what we consider small things.
May this issue of MyFaith Magazine be a blessing this new spring month, and may you experience God in the smallest of small things! Send us a mail, drop a message on the website or Facebook, and share with us what God means to you.
